KBShimmer You Autumn Know and You Go Ghoul!

Ok, let's just get this out of the way because I know you're all thinking it...

Now that we've relived the 90's a little (or at least those of us old enough to have been alive in the 90s, hah!), let's get to the review!  Tonight, we're going to take a look at two polishes from KBShimmer's upcoming fall collection.  These polishes will be available on September 1st, so make sure you have that in your calendar!

*I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample of KBShimmer You Autumn Know and You Go Ghoul for review purposes.  All other polishes in this review were purchased by me for my own use.  The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.  For more information, please see my Disclosure Policy in the tab above.*

You Autumn Know

Color: White crelly with orange, purple, and gold hexes and bars.

Finish: Glitter Crème – glitter in a crème base.

Bottle / Brush: Round bottle – the wand is the standard length, but the brush is much thicker.  This made the polish easier to control and manipulate than even the normal brushes for this bottle type.

Opacity: High – opaque at two coats!

Glitter Application: Easy – Spreads evenly without much manipulation.

Consistency: Medium – applies easily and doesn’t flood the cuticles.

Overall Ease of Application: Easy – applies well without pooling, dragging, streaking, or balding.  Spreads evenly and smoothly.

Stampability: Not designed for stamping.

Dry Time: Medium – dry to the touch with minimal smudging in 3-8 minutes.

Overall Thoughts: I paired YAK with Cult Nails Tempest on all but my middle finger, which is two coats over itself.  Yes.  That is only two coats.  Yes it's completely opaque in two coats.  That's definitely not the norm for white crelly glitters since you need the base to be transparent enough to see the glitters.  I think that Christy balanced the opacity to glitter viewability very well.  It has more depth layered over itself, but it's brighter and more polished when layered over Tempest.  The glitters were easy to get out of the bottle, and the micro bars weren't a pain to place or cover with topcoat.  No poking up here!  All in all, it's a very pretty crelly, and it needs to be in your collection as it's the perfect embodiment of crunchy leaves underfoot.

You Go Ghoul

Color: Black jelly base with purple, orange, and fuchsia hexes and bars.

Finish: Glitter Jelly – glitter in a colored jelly base.

Bottle / Brush: Round bottle – the wand is the standard length, but the brush is much thicker.  This made the polish easier to control and manipulate than even the normal brushes for this bottle type.

Opacity: Medium – achieves opacity at three to four coats.

Glitter Application: Easy – Spreads evenly without much manipulation.

Consistency: Medium – applies easily and doesn’t flood the cuticles.

Overall Ease of Application: Medium – applies well with minimal pooling, dragging, streaking, or balding.  Spreads well without much manipulation.

Stampability: Not designed for stamping.

Dry Time: Medium – dry to the touch with minimal smudging in 3-8 minutes.

Overall Thoughts: Again, I paired YGG over undies, Cult Nevermore, which took a bit of depth away.  I still liked it over one coat, though, as you can see the glitters a little more easily.  Again, this polish has micro bars, but they really aren't noticeable on the nail or during application.  The glitters were easy to get out, and they spread well on their own.  There are a few that look like they're curling, but I assure you that they do lay flat on the nail without any flipping, fussing, or extra top coat.  This particular polish feels soooooooooo Halloween to me, so I just had to pair it with an orange I've been wanting to try - Elevation's Llulluillaco, which is a small batch prototype I scored from one of her 22nd of the month restocks.  I think it probably would've looked better with Elevation Sarychev, but I still really like the look of these two together.  Now that I've had these on my fingers for the past couple of days, I'm definitely ready for fall!

    1. Thank you! I think I'm going to try to do some sort of tape mani with Ghoul and a brighter orange once it's closer to Halloween. :D
