Red Coat Tuesday: Lynnderella Berry Much in Love

Tonight's Red Coat Tuesday will be a quick one since I didn't get to schedule this one beforehand (Tuesdays are date nights, so I usually can't pop onto the computer until after he falls asleep).  Tonight we're going to take a quick peek at Lynnderella Berry Much in Love over Zoya Sookie.

Zoya Sookie is a bright almost tomato red creme that is perfectly opaque in two coats.  Application is super easy without the need for much cleanup.  Dry time was average, but I didn't have any issues with adding the glitter topper on top right after applying the undies.

Berry Much in Love is a clear based polish with red hexes and squares, yellow hexes, pink blossoms, green stars, and a bunch of other shapes in red, green, yellow pink.  Application was easy without the need to dab for placement.  Also, the glitter came out of the bottle easily without the need to dig.

Dry time was average, but I did use a quick dry topcoat.  Even though it's a glitter bomb, it's not topcoat hungry, so I only used one coat of KBShimmer's Clearly on Top.

In the end, I didn't love this combo, but that's probably because I didn't love Berry Much in Love as much as I was hoping I would.  It came out during Christmas, so I didn't really feel that its use was all that great outside of Christmas time.  Zoya Sookie, however, is one of my all time favorite reds.  Its perfect brightness and opacity make me super happy.  What do you think?  Do you like this combo?

Red Coat Tuesday: Pahlish Blood of the Mountain

Holy wow, you guys!  I'm going on almost a full month of blogging!  I can't believe it!  I really do think that moving away from my uber detailed review has been helpful in the long run...  While I do miss the info dump, I'm hoping I still give you guys enough information to really get the gist of a polish.

Guess what time it is???  It's #RedCoatTueday!  I totally missed the premiere last week, so this is my first mani getting back into the swing of things.  I'm also missing the link up, so I'll add that as soon as I get it.  This week's episode!!!  Omg!!!  All I'll say is Jason.  Mmm mmm mmm, Jason, hah!  Ok, sorry, let's get back on track and take a look at tonight's offering, Pahlish Blood of the Mountain with an accent of Lynnderella Tidy Whities.

Let me just say this up front...  I'm not in love with this combo by any means.  It was one of those things where I thought it would look good in my head, but as soon as it was on my nails I knew I was wrong.  Oh well!  I'm not going to let perfectly good photos go to waste!  Let's take a look, shall we?

Blood of the Mountain is a burgundy/ox blood linear holographic with golden flakies and some on-tone red holo glitters.  Application was a bit rough.  BotM has a super thick consistency, so it was a bit gloopy for me.  The consistency made it difficult to apply, so it looks (and was) quite a bit thicker than I usually like.

Thankfully, it was self-leveling, so it looks smooth even though it was anything but when I applied it.  Because it's a thicker formula, it also took some time to dry.  Lastly, it dried a bit textured and rough because of all of the extra flakies and glitters in it.  I'm used to this and don't mind it, though.  I only needed to use one coat of KBShimmer's Clearly on Top to give it a glossy look.

Tidy Whities is a white shimmered base packed with rainbow iridescent glitters as well as large (read chunky) matte and satin white glitters in various shapes and sizes.  The shimmered base gives it a bit of a milky feel even though it's not really a crelly or colored base.  It's just so extremely shimmered that it didn't really play well with the red undies.

Application was much like many other Lynnderellas, meaning that it's so packed with glitter that it's a bit thick, dense, and required dabbing to get even coverage.  The glitters were so densely packed into the bottle that they were very easy to get out - even the larger shapes.  The bar glitters didn't curl up, either, which is fantastic, because they usually do and that drives me insane.  I used an extra coat of topcoat to make it smooth and glossy.

As Borrowed From: Lynnderella See Change

Sometimes, there are some seriously special people in your life that will allow you to borrow some amazingly special polishes.   It's always nice to be able to try out a polish that may be harder to find or expensive before adding it to the ever growing ISO list.  And to be honest, I'm never sure I'll ever actually finish a full bottle of anything, so just one use works really well!  Sometimes I'm sent a bottle to borrow for one use, or there are other times where a lovely friend sends me a decant of a special polish, which I love to give and receive.  These people are angels sent from heaven, and I am so thankful to have them in my life!  As such, I wanted to start a new mini-feature on the blog to showcase those lovely polishes loaned to me by these amazing women.  Today's installment is from the super sweet Sara from Born for a Storm who loaned me Lynnderella See Change, which I paired with Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Mer-Mint.

This polish was loaned to me by a friend or was made by myself.

Mer-Mint is a polish that I created for a few friends for Christmas last year, so it's not something that's regularly available on my shop.  It's a teal creme with a strong pink shimmer and smaller iridescent glitters.  I used two coats with two coats of topcoat.

As accents, I used Lynnderella See Change, which is a limited edition microglitter.  It has a clear base and is packed with teal holographic microglitters with accents of gold glitters in micros, squares, and hexes and larger teal holographic squares.

I absolutely love Lynn's microglitters because application is always super easy.  They're a bit on the thicker side, so you've got more control with application than you would with a runnier micro.  Here, I wore two coats with two coats of topcoat to tame the glitters.

Oldie but Goodie: Old Swatch Roundup

It's time for the next installment of the Old Swatch Roundup!  I've got a MILLION photos of gorgeous polishes that need to be reviewed, but I've taken so long to actually do anything with these photos that I don't remember anything about the actual polish!  D'oh!  My solution?  I'll just toss a bunch of older swatches into one post a month without an actual review!  By the way, I've been keeping notes on application for all of the recent swatches I've done to ensure that I don't forget when it's time for the review.  I can't let my laziness deter from proper reviews!  Ok, let's take a look!

Grey and Pink

Man, I almost let the post slide tonight because I've been laid up all day with a horrible fever and cough.  But, I didn't want to give in, so here we are!  Apparently, this week is going to be an Enchanted focused week!  Tonight, we're going to take a look at a lovely grey and pink combo using Enchanted Once Upon a Cloud as accents with Lynnderella Pink Sapphire Stilettos.

Once Upon a Cloud is a lovely medium grey linear holographic with loads of pink shimmers.  This was a polish she surprise restocked, so I was very fortunate to grab it when it was listed on her shop.  Application for OUAC is pretty amazing just like with almost all of the EP's I own.  It applied easily without pooling or streaking.  You could probably wear it with just one coat, but I chose to wear it in two for my photos.

Pink Sapphire Stilettos is a pink jelly based polish packed with hot pink metallic and holographic glitters.  Even though it's a glitter, application was relatively easy, and I only needed to lightly dab to get the glitters to spread evenly.  Unlike many Lynnderella glitters, PSS is actually fully opaque on its own in two coats!  I didn't need undies, so I didn't use any this go around.  I did use an extra coat of topcoat to tame the glitters a bit and give them a glossy look.

Neons and Neutrals

Week two of back to blogging, and I'm determined to keep it up!  Today's post is all about dichotomy - brights and neutrals coming together into one perfect manicure.  For today's mani, I used Enchanted Polish Afternoon Delight topped with a Lynnderella twinset - 7 Minutes in Heaven and Girl-Boy Party.

Afternoon Delight is a lovely nude linear holographic with a substantial blue shimmer.  Application was flawless without any need for cleanup.  I used two medium coats for full opacity.

I then topped AD with a layer of Girl-Boy Party.  GBP is a clear based polish packed with red, purple, pink, and blue glitters in hexes, squares, diamonds, blossoms, and bars.  It varies slightly from its sister Boy-Girl Party in that it has more shapes as well as more pink.  Like most Lynnderellas, this one was definitely heavy on glitter and light on base.  The glitter comes out of the bottle easily enough, but you will need to use the dab method in order to spread the glitters evenly across the nail.  It's also a very topcoat hungry polish, so even without the additional coat of glitter, I would have needed an extra coat of topcoat to calm all of those glitters down.

Lastly, I topped the whole thing with 7 Minutes in Heaven.  7MIH is a clear based polish packed with blue shimmer and neon matte glitters in hexes, squares, and bars.  Unlike GBP, 7MIH isn't quite as dense, which means that you do have to do a little more digging to get the glitter out.  The shimmered base also gives it a bit of a frosty look, but it wasn't too bad with the shimmer already in the base of AD.  I used one coat with a normal paint motion in order to get a little bit of a more sparse look so it wouldn't overwhelm the mani.  Because it's a little runnier, there was need to do a bit of cleanup from where the polish slid onto my skin from the nail.

I really loved how this came out.  The neutral base really makes the colored glitters pop, and the look is just perfection.  Unfortunately, all three of these are unavailable, but you can often find them up on blog sales.  Otherwise, you can purchase Lynnderellas here and here, and you can purchase EPs here.
