Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer February Releases Part 1

And we've got another Blue-Eyed Girl lacquer release coming up!  This time, I'll be releasing the Crooked Hearts Collection as well as a new siren in the numbered siren LE series, Siren Sweetheart.  The sale will be 2.9.2015 at 3:30 pm est, so make sure you get there early to grab what you want!  All photos for this post are taken indoors under artificial daylight lamps.  Also, I'm wearing cuties right now while I wait for my nails to grow out.  [If you don't know what cuties are, they are intentionally short nails that aren't really nubs because they're still shaped nicely and aren't the product of a break.]  Ok, let's take a look!

Together Dead and Lonely

TDAL is a black jelly loaded with silver and red holographic microglitters.  It's a pretty opaque polish, but you can still see the holo glitters fairly well.  The glitters came out of the bottle easily and spread well without the need to use the dab method.  I used two coats for full opacity and only needed one coat of Seche Vite to even out the glitters.  Dry time was average.

Believin' Won't Fly

BWF is a blackened navy creme with a very strong blue flash.  Application was easy and didn't require any cleanup.  I only needed two coats for full opacity, and I used one coat of Seche Vite to create a glossy finish.

Sick Inside Wondering

SIW is a medium-bright green creme with strong blue shimmer.  It dries to a satiny finish, so I have shown you photos both with and without topcoat.  I got to full opacity in two coats, but I used three for my photos to ensure I didn't have any bald spots.  Since it's a matte, it's definitely one that you need to be patient with between coats so that you don't drag over the bits that aren't quite dry.  The consistency made application fairly easy, so I didn't have any issue with cleanup.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer 1st Anniversary! One Gray-t Year!

It's been almost exactly a year since I opened up shop over at Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquers.  To commemorate the occasion, I've created a limited edition made just for this restock on Sunday.  The brilliant name was given to me by Jessica of Polished 10, and I think it's perfect!  Let's take a look see.  This post will be picture heavy, so prepare yourselves!

One Gray-t Year is a matte grey polish with rainbow micro-flakies.  It dries to a satin finish instead of a straight matte, but it's still really nice.

This shows three coats without topcoat.  It's a bit shiny because I got some cuticle oil on my nails a bit, but it's definitely more of a satin finish than glossy.

It's a tad on the thicker side, but not difficult to work with.  Application is easy without any flooding or pooling.  Even though it's a matte, there's no issue with balding or clumping, either.

Dry time was a bit on the long side when worn without a quick dry topcoat, so be prepared for that if you're in a hurry.  With topcoat, however, dry time is average.  The photos below show it with one coat of Rush quick dry topcoat.

Zoya Mimi and Lynderella Salad Days

So, tonight's post is going to be a quick one. Because it's late, and I'm in a mood. Dishes will do that to you, lol.  Let's take a quick look at Lynnderella Salad Days over Zoya Mimi with a matte topcoat.  I did this a looonng time ago, so I'm not really sure I remember everything about it, other than this was a combo that I thought might look good but then turned out excellent!  Ok, let's take a look!

Mimi is a lovely shifter that goes from purple to pink to gold.  The pigment is a bit grittier than most shifters, and it comes across almost like a glitter than a pigmented base.  It builds well, and this is three coats.

Salad Days is a gorgeous clear based polish with predominantly green glitters but with a smattering of other colors tossed throughout.  Application is super easy, and the glitters were easy to get out of the bottle.  Unlike a lot of the Lynn glitter bombs, as you can see from the bottle shot, this one wasn't so full of glitter that it was difficult to apply.  The base to glitter ratio was perfect!

Comparison Thursday: Teal with Pink - part deux!

Per reader request, tonight's comparison will be of KBShimmer Teal Another Tail and Indigo Bananas Immortal Game.  Both are teal based polishes with strong gold to pink shift and holographic glitters, but, as you'll see below, they are quite different.  If you'd like to see my first teal with pink flash comparison, look here.  Oh, and while you're at it, check out the blue with pink flash post here!

Let's start off with the similarities.  As you can see, both polishes are teal based with strong pink to gold flash.  They both contain a large particle shifting pigment with a bit of holographic glitter interspersed.  Both only required three coats for full opacity, and they dried at the same pace without a topcoat - about 10 minutes.  Photos holding Teal Another Tail are both polishes without topcoat.  Photos holding Nina Ultra Pro Topcoat and those in the low light photos are both polishes with topcoat.  The macros are both with topcoat.  Click on the photos to enlarge them.

Let's take a look at each polish a little more closely now to check out their differences.

KBShimmer Teal Another Tail

Teal Another Tail leans more green on the teal spectrum than Immortal Game.  It also has a brighter shift.  If you look at the macro, you can see bits of black, as well, that's missing from Immortal Game.  Also, Teal Another Tail dries with a matte, almost textured, finish.  The texture doesn't rise to the level of Zoya Pixie Dusts or OPI Liquid Sands, but it's definitely a grittier finish than a normal matte.  Even without a topcoat, you can see the shift and sparkle quite vividly.  The holographic glitters in Teal Another Tail are actually quite a bit larger, and thus more noticeable, than those found in Immortal Game.  With topcoat added, Teal Another Tail was just as glossy as Immortal Game.  

Immortal Game

Immortal Game leans more toward the blue side of the teal spectrum.  The shift, while vibrant, isn't quite as strong as the shift in Teal Another Tail.  The shifting particles are large in Immortal Game, too, but it doesn't cause the polish to get gritty.  Immortal Game dries shiny and smooth.  With topcoat, it's quite glossy.  There are microscopic holographic glitters that you see only when the light hits them just right, but they are there.  Immortal Game is also much less densely packed with the glass flecks/glitters/shifting particles than in Teal Another Tail, giving you a better view of the base color than with TAT.

  You can see the biggest difference between them in the low light photos (yes, I used the sensual glow of the refrigerator once more).  The green is more apparent in Teal Another Tail and the gold shifts stronger in Teal Another Tail as well.  Immortal Game has fewer particles, which is why, in my opinion, the shift isn't as strong.

As you can see, in certain lights, they look very similar, but in others, they are quite different.  I definitely think you could get away with owning both.
