Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Release Info: Spark in the Dark Part 1

Alright, we've got a lot of swatches to get through, so I'm going to break this up into two posts!  There will be nine total polishes that will be released on January 12, 2015 at 3:30 pm est - the Spark in the Dark Collection as well as the newest numbered LE in the Siren Series, Sirens Are Made for Water, Not Snow.  This collection was originally going to be a New Year's Eve collection that I was going to sell in December.  However, I was really burned out from all things BEGL after the insane fall and just needed to take a break.  So if you're wondering what the names mean or why I chose the names I chose, keep in mind that it was going to be a flashy collection meant for NYE.  Now that you know the inspiration, let's take a look at the polishes!  I'll have four and a half today and four on Friday.

First, here's a shot of the full collection.

(L-R): Hypothermia; Wanna Fall In Love Tonight; Counting Down Until I See You; It's Almost After Midnight; Sirens Are Made for Water, Not Snow; The Years Have Been Short; She's Electricity; Never Danced Like This Before; Bound to the City Life

Don't forget, BEGLs come in 10ml mini bottles, too!

Hypothermia

So after a year of begging and pleading, I have decided to re-release Hypothermia, last year's popular free gift with purchase.  You can find my previous review about it here.  I don't think it would be fair to sell it on its own now since it was a limited edition, so I'm going to do it like I did last year - it will be a free gift with purchase of the full collection.  Yes, it will be available in both full size and minis.  Please keep in mind that I only make minis for the initial release of a collection, so once they're gone they're gone!

Bound to the City Life

BTTCL is a dark blue-leaning teal jelly with purple, navy, red, green, and silver holo microglitters. I used three coats for photos, but two coats would've given me full coverage.  Application was easy and only required a little bit of cleanup.  Dry time is pretty quick even without topcoat.  I like to make sure everything is extra glossy, so I used one coat of Peita's Polish Glitter Glaze and one coat of Seche Vite.

Wanna Fall In Love Tonight

WFILT is a red-leaning purple creme with delicate golden red shimmer. Please note, my photos don't really match the polish color in real life.  It's a tad brighter and less blue-leaning in person.  I've attempted to color correct one photo so you can see what it's supposed to look like.  It's closer to Martha Jones than to River Song.

WFILT is much thinner than most BEGLs, so be careful with application.  Even though it is thinner than my normal polishes, I still only needed two coats for full opacity.  It dries satin, and it dries quick.  In my photos, I wore it without topcoat and then added a layer of Seche Vite.

She's Electricity

She's Electricity is a hot pink holo with pink and aqua shimmers and purple-blue iridescent microglitters. I wore two coats and one coat of Seche Vite.  Please note that, it dries a bit satin and a bit textured, so you'll probably want to wear it with a glossy topcoat.  The shimmers are more noticeable in flashes of the light, but you can see the turquoise in the macro a bit.  It's not the most holo BEGL, but it does have a decent flame.  Wish I had sunlight to see what it could truly do, but I had to make-do with lamps.  If I can get home in time to catch the sun, I'll update the post with another photo!

The Years Have Been Short

TYHBS is a jelly base tinted slightly white with white microglitter, silver reflective beads, blue/purple iridescent microglitters, strong blue shimmer, and a smattering of various shades of blue microglitters.  Please note that the reflective beads are heavier than normal glitters, so you may need to shake your bottle to mix them back in. For a microglitter, it's not too thick nor too thin - it had the perfect consistency for flawless application.  In my photos, I wore three coats alone on all but my ring finger, which is one coat over BEGL Dogwood.  I did have to do the slightest bit of dabbing to make sure the glitters spread evenly across the nail, but the first coat was straight up painted on and covered nicely.  Dries only slightly textured as compared to most of my microglitters, so I only needed one coat of topcoat to get a smooth finish.

The full set will cost $67 (full size bottles) | $37 (mini bottles), and the set will include all eight bottles of polish.  For individual full size bottles, the holographics and shifters will be $12 and the cremes, flakies, shimmers, glitters, and microglitters will be $8.50.  The individual mini bottles will cost $6 for the holographics and shifters and $5 for the cremes, flakies, shimmers, glitters, and microglitters.

So, what do you think so far?  Are you as excited about this release as I am?  Check back on Friday to see the last four polishes coming in the release next week!!
