Sunday Hair Day: Rock Your Hair Bombshell Big Hair Powder

*I was not financially compensated for this post.  I received a sample for review purposes.*

Yup.  Big hair is pretty much what you get from this miracle powder.  This little bottle packs a HUGE punch that works well on both my straight and curly hair - even curly hair the day after a wash.  That's saying something because my hair usually looks all matted down and sad if I wear it curly the day after a wash.  Add this powder, and BAM.  Volume added and curls restored.  So, let's take a look at some befores and afters!  **Let me apologize for my crazy red eyes and giant bags.  The majority of these photos were taken in the morning before I went to work at around 6 am after a crappy night's sleep.**

The products they sent me for review were their Big Hair Rocks Shampoo and Conditioner, Spray it Hard Big Volume Hairspray, Size Matters Big Volume Root Lift, Miracle Leave in Conditioner and Weightless Detangler, and Bombshell Big Hair Powder.

The powder comes in a shaker bottle with holes that aren't so large that you dump the product all over yourself.

Shake it over your roots for big volume or over your ends for texture.  The smell is amazing.  I mean, it's really really really nice.  Not all of the Rock Your Hair products smell the same, which is a bit annoying if you decide to use multiple products at once.  But for all of the products I reviewed, the Bombshell Powder smelled the best to me.

I have no idea how this stuff works, but it goes from being a powder to almost feeling like a hairspray, pomade, paste, or hair wax once you've worked it into your hair.  Here's my straight hair before I used the powder.

Here it is after I used the powder and fluffed it up at the roots with my fingers.  I look exhausted...  It makes me giggle looking back at these photos.  Hah!

You have options when you use this product.  You can let your hair go flat with a little bit of body at the roots and texture at the ends, or you can really play it up and tease the roots for huge lift.  Here is my straight hair at the end of the day.  I flipped it upside down, shook it out, and flipped back up to get this look.  Also, I almost forgot to take this pic, so you guys get a pic of me in a t-shirt.  Woohoo!

Remember how I said it worked on curly, too?  Yeah, well, let's take a look at my crappy just slept on curls.

Now, take a look at my slept on curls vamped up with the Bombshell Powder.  It not only revitalized the roots, but it also gave some texture to the curls and helped them re-curl.  LOVE IT!

Lastly, I have a photo of my new 'do, a nice asymmetrical look with choppy layers.  I used the Bombshell Powder at the beginning of a long day of shopping, and it still looked fantastic by the evening.  If you follow my Facebook page, you've seen this photo already.  I went to the Mac store with my friend Jessica from Polished 10 and got a new nighttime look, which I seriously love.  The Bombshell Powder makes this style pop by showcasing all of the layers.  It's like my new style and the Bombshell Powder were made for one another!

Do you like big hair, or is it too much for you?  I used to want my hair to be as flat as possible, but I've been really liking the volume lately.  I also love the texture and definition the Bombshell Powder provides my new haircut!  You can purchase Rock Your Hair products at salons and Ulta.  Follow the Rock Your Hair team on Facebook for news and promos.

Sunday Hair Day: Rock Your Hair Size Matters Big Volume Root Lift

I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample for review purposes.
Are you guys ready for the next installment of Sunday Hair Day?  Ok, so tonight's product is probably my favorite from all of the items I was sent.  In fact, I've used it every.  single.  day.  since receiving it.  It works well on both my straight and curly hair.  The name Size Matters Big Volume Root Lift doesn't lie.  It gives ridiculous volume, it's so easy to use, and it smells really nice.  So, let's take a look!

Firstly, the nozzle is large, making it easy to grip and control.  It's a continuous spray, like Spray it Hard, so you just press and hold until you get desired coverage.

The consistency is more like a mousse than a hairspray or gel.  As you can see, it comes out bright white so you can see where you've sprayed it in.  Work it through your hair with your brush or your hands and fluff it up to your desired biggness.  Just so you know, you can definitely tell that you have something in your hair.  It feels a little tough, like running your hair through hairsprayed hair.  Tough isn't really the right word, but I think you get the idea.  Either way, that hold also holds down the frizzies that like to pop up on the top of my head after I straighten it.

Here's what my hair looks like when I blow it dry and straighten it with my old products.  Crazy flat from the top of my head all the way to the end.  Like that ridiculous grin?!

Here's my hair just after applying Size Matters with a few squirts of Spray it Hard.  I also used a little of the Miracle Leave in Conditioner before I straightened it to protect it from the heat.

It's still going strong a few hours later.  Granted, it's also a little frizzy due to the crazy humidity (and the rain that's been passing through) in Atlanta.

Then, I decided to take the top down for my ride home.  I didn't have a headband or hair tie, so I decided to wear my Braves hat!  This was also a good chance to test the detangler, so you'll be seeing this hat again soon.

Post hat hair...  Looking flat and tangled.  And awesome.  Very hot.  Hah!

I just brushed it out, flipped my hair over, shook out it a little,

and flipped it back up!  All of that volume is back with a vengeance!!

Now, here's my hair when curly without using Size Matters.  My cow licks in the front have a little bit of body, but it's all really flat on my head.

I added Size Matters while wet the next morning, and voila!  Volume all over my head without being weighed down by the curls!

So, what do you think?  Do you like big hair?  I used to shy away from volume, but I'm actually digging it lately.  You can purchase Rock Your Hair products at salons and Ulta.  Follow the Rock Your Hair team on their Facebook page.

Sunday Hair Day: Rock Your Hair Spray it Hard Big Volume Hairspray

I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample for review purposes.

Well, tonight's post is unusual in two ways.  First, I normally don't post on Sundays.  Second, it's not about nails...  Instead, it's about hair.  When the rep from Rock Your Hair contacted me about reviewing their products, I have to admit, I was pretty flattered!  Then, I was extremely nervous.  Other than nail polish, I'm not a super girly girl.  I don't typically wear makeup every day.  I don't dress to the nines unless I'm going out.  And I am certainly exceedingly lazy when it comes to hair.  Usually, after I wash it, I toss in some Aveda Be Curly, a little Moroccan Oil, and some sea salt spray and let it curl.  Needless to say, I was pretty excited to try out new products to see if they would be as easy as my normal routine but better than my current products.  I was very pleasantly surprised, that's for sure.  So, tonight will be the first in a Sunday series all about the Rock Your Hair products.

Tonight, let's take a look at the hairspray.  As I usually don't need too much help with volume, I used it for staying power instead.  Here is my lovely mug post waking up with wavy hair.

I then brushed it out and pulled it into a ponytail.  As you can see, I have some breakage from my laziness of pulling it back while wet during the winter.  I always get really annoyed by those stupid little hairs, so I wanted to put this hairspray to the test by putting it head to head against my annoyingly frizzy hair.

This is just after applying to hairspray and patting my hair down.

The nozzle was easy to use and didn't clog.  The spray dried easily without making my hair feel sticky.  The smell is nice and fresh without being overpowering or cloyingly sweet.

To really put this bad boy to the test, I decided to take a spin in my convertible with the top down and without a headband or hat.  Here's the result - only a few bits of hair started to stick up on the side.

At the end of the day, there were a few more bits of hair sticking up after a day full of packing and cleaning.

All in all I think this test was a success!  I wore my hair in a ponytail for twelve plus hours, rode around in a convertible with the top down, packed and cleaned my house, and the hairspray only lost minimal hold.  This will definitely be my go-to for hairspray from now on.  Easy to work with, long hold, and nice smell.
